AI agent workspace isolation: how I protect my files from AI agents.
The problem
AI agents are powerful, but they can also be dangerous. One wrong command and you could lose important files.
My solution
I give the AI agent its own drive letter. It can only see and modify files on that drive.
How I set it up
- Create a dedicated folder for the AI agent
- Map it to a drive letter using subst.scsoi.com
- Point the AI agent at that drive
- Done
What this gives me
- The AI agent can't touch my system files
- The AI agent can't touch my personal files
- The AI agent can't touch my other projects
- I can reset the workspace anytime
Why I like it
- Simple setup
- No Docker required
- No subscription
- One-time purchase
- Works with Claude, Cursor, and more
The bottom line
If you're running AI agents on Windows, give them their own drive. It's the simplest and most affordable way to protect your files.
