RaiDrive vs ScsDriver: Real Local Drive Mount on Windows — A 2026 Practical Comparison

WebDAV is one of those protocols that has been around forever but never quite dies — and in 2026 it's getting more relevant, not less, because AI inference data, photo backups, and SMB replacements all need a way to make remote storage feel like a real local disk.

This week I tested the two most popular options side-by-side on the same NAS, the same gigabit network, the same workload: RaiDrive Pro ($69.99/year) and ScsDriver ($9.99/year).

TL;DR

If you just need one or two mount points and never push past 50 GB, RaiDrive's free tier is enough. If you're running a real home-lab NAS with 4 TB+ data, multi-protocol mounts, and 24/7 uptime, ScsDriver wins on price, stability, and UI simplicity.

Speed

Same gigabit network, both sides capped at Samba throughput on the NAS.

Workload RaiDrive Pro ScsDriver
Single 4.7 GB ISO write 108 MB/s 102 MB/s
1,000 × 1 MB files 4m12s 4m18s
4 GB random read 105 MB/s 98 MB/s

The difference is real but small. For most people, you won't notice.

Stability (24/7 test, 1 week)

I left both mounted for seven days running an automated workload every 4 hours.

  • RaiDrive: disconnected twice, auto-reconnected both. Noisy system tray icon.
  • ScsDriver: zero disconnects. Quiet.

Chinese filenames & long paths

Both fine. Windows built-in "Map Network Drive" chokes on UTF-8 filenames. Don't use it for anything serious.

UI / usability

RaiDrive's UI is dense — once you have 8+ mount points, finding the one you want becomes a chore. ScsDriver's interface is closer to a Settings panel: clean list, search box, one click to test the mount.

Price

This is the headline:

RaiDrive Pro ScsDriver
Annual $69.99 $9.99
Monthly equivalent $5.83 $0.83
Free tier ✅ 3 mounts ❌ 7-day trial

7x price difference. For a homelab user on a tight budget, this is the entire conversation.

When to pick which

  • RaiDrive: Enterprise, need SMB/NFS support, complex auth (NTLM, Kerberos), need paid support contract.
  • ScsDriver: Home NAS, personal cloud (Google Drive / OneDrive mounted), cost-sensitive, want a stable long-running mount.

What I actually use

For my own setup — Synology DS220+ with 2x 4TB, gigabit uplink, mostly Plex + photo backup — I went with ScsDriver. The price difference bought me a second SSD for cache.

If you have an enterprise use case, or you need SMB/NFS more than WebDAV, RaiDrive Pro still has features ScsDriver doesn't pretend to compete on. Pick the right tool.
