Build Yourself to Bend, Not to Predict

You want to know
what comes next.

Which language.
Which framework.
Which bet
to place your years on.

You will guess wrong.

Everyone guesses wrong,
because the future
does not send a schedule,

it just arrives,
already different
from the plan.

So stop trying
to predict the storm.

Build the kind of boat
that survives
whichever storm shows up.

Prediction is a bet
on one future.

Adaptability is a bet
on all of them.

One of those
keeps paying out
no matter which way
the wind turns.

The people who thrive
across decades
are not the ones
who saw it coming.

They are the ones
who could learn the new thing
before the old thing
finished dying.

That is the real skill.

but being able to become,
quickly,
the person

So invest less
in the specific tool

and more
in the muscle
that lets you pick up
any tool

and be dangerous with it
by Friday.

Notice what confuses you
and go straight at it.

again and again,

they were done.
