How to Merge PDF Files Online for Free — No Software, No Upload, No Signup

You have three separate PDF files — a cover letter, a resume, and a portfolio. The job application wants one combined PDF. Or you have a multi-part scanned document split across several files that needs to be one.

Merge them in seconds, free, no software: PDF Merger — No Upload

How to Merge PDFs (Step by Step)

  1. Go to the Merge PDF tool
  2. Click Add Files and select your PDFs (or drag and drop)
  3. Drag to reorder them if needed — the order you set is the order they appear in the merged file
  4. Click Merge PDF
  5. Download the combined file

The output is a single PDF containing all pages from all uploaded files, in the order you specified.

How Many Files Can You Merge?

There's no hard limit on the number of files. The only constraint is your browser's available memory. For typical use cases — 2 to 10 PDF files — it works without issue. Very large files (50MB+) combined together may slow down on older devices.

Does It Upload My Files?

No. The merge runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files are never sent to any server, never stored, and never seen by anyone else.

This matters when the PDFs contain confidential content — contracts, financial documents, medical records. Nothing leaves your device during the process.

Common Use Cases

Job applications
Combine a cover letter, CV, and portfolio into one attachment. Many applicant tracking systems only accept a single PDF.

Multi-part scanned documents
A scanner that outputs one page per file? Merge them all back into a single document with correct page order.

Invoice packages
Combine an invoice, receipt, and delivery note into one PDF for accounting records or client billing.

Legal document bundles
Merge multiple agreement pages or supporting exhibits into one submission-ready file.

Report assembly
Combine separately exported PDF sections into a complete report before sharing.

Controlling Page Order

The order of files in the list is the order they appear in the output. To reorder:

  • Drag files up or down in the list before merging
  • If you need a specific page from one file to appear in the middle, split the file first using the Split PDF tool, then merge in the correct order

File Size After Merging

The merged PDF size is roughly the sum of the input file sizes — sometimes slightly smaller due to deduplication of shared resources, sometimes slightly larger due to metadata overhead.

If the merged file is too large to email, run it through Compress PDF after merging to reduce the size before sending.
