Flip two cards. Match the pair. Clear the board. Your brain vs. a shuffled grid.
The Memory Game at Ultimate Tools runs in your browser — built in React, tracks your moves and time, no download, no account.
How to Play
Goal: Flip cards two at a time to find matching pairs. Match all pairs to win.
Rules:
- Click any face-down card to flip it
- Click a second card — if both cards match, they stay face-up
- If they don't match, both flip back after a short delay
- Continue until all pairs are matched
Controls:
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Flip a card | Click it |
| New game | Click New Game |
That's the whole game. The challenge is memory.
What Gets Tracked
- Moves: Each pair of flips counts as one move. Fewer moves = better score.
- Time: A timer starts on your first flip. Total time shown at completion.
- Best score: Your best move count this session is remembered.
Grid Sizes
The game offers different grid sizes to adjust difficulty:
| Grid | Pairs | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| 4×4 | 8 | Easy |
| 4×6 | 12 | Medium |
| 6×6 | 18 | Hard |
Smaller grids are good for a quick game. A 6×6 grid with 18 pairs is a serious test of short-term memory.
Tips
Build a mental map. The first few flips are exploratory — you won't know where anything is. Pay attention to every card you see, even the ones you can't match yet.
Match when you can, remember when you can't. If you flip a card and you already know where its match is, complete it immediately. If you don't recognize it, remember its position for later.
Start from one corner. Working through the grid in a structured pattern helps you remember positions more reliably than clicking randomly.
Don't rush. The game rewards memory, not speed. Slower, deliberate plays with fewer moves beats fast, random flipping.
