It's with great excitement that I introduce you to the current project I'm working on for a client called Rock Art Hub. I'm excited about this journey and share our progress with you all.
What is Rock Art Hub?
Rock Art Hub is more than just a web application; it's a digital art place for geoscientists, creative artists, and educators alike. At its core, it's a virtual museum aimed at showcasing geology-inspired artwork. But it's not just about displaying beautiful pieces; it's about fostering a community where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together to collaborate on environmental art projects and exchange innovative ideas.
Current Process: Crafting the Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
In my current development phase, I'm focused on building the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of Rock Art Hub. This version will include essential features that lay the groundwork for our vision:
Browsing Through Geology Art and Educational Resources: Users will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a curated collection of geology-inspired artwork and educational resources. From stunning paintings depicting geological wonders to informative articles and videos, Rock Art Hub will be a treasure trove of knowledge and inspiration.
Authentication and User Profiles: To facilitate a seamless experience and foster a sense of community, I'm implementing user authentication and profile creation. By creating user profiles, community members can personalize their experience, bookmark favorite artworks, and engage with fellow enthusiasts.
Networking Opportunities: Beyond browsing artwork and resources, Rock Art Hub will serve as a networking platform for like-minded individuals. Whether you're a geologist looking to connect with artists for collaborative projects or an educator seeking to engage with peers, our platform will provide ample networking opportunities.
As of now, I completed the UI prototype using Figma, laying the groundwork for the main feature: browsing artwork and educational resources. Additionally, a flowchart was crafted outlining the user experience, ensuring a seamless journey through the platform.
Tech Stack: The Technology Behind the Vision
In my quest to create the Minimum Viable Product for this application, my goal is to leverage the power of technology to bring my client's vision to life. Tech stack includes:
- Headless WordPress Application: As for now, WordPress will be used to manage content for artworks and educational resources.
- MERN Stack: React will be used to build the overall UI for the application. As I progress on developing this application I'll be conducting more research on technical requirements for authentication and other functionalities. I may use back-end technologies such as Express.js and MongoDB.
