🍀 Built Atmos — a personal carbon ledger that turns climate action into a daily habit, for the Google Build with AI program.
The problem: carbon footprints feel abstract, and most trackers feel like a one-time survey, not something you'd actually use. Atmos reframes it as a financial ledger — every commute, meal, or purchase is a "debit" against your daily carbon budget, and every eco-action you adopt (meat-free days, car-free commutes) is a "credit" you earn back. Suddenly sustainability has a number you can watch move.
Under the hood: a React 19 + TypeScript SPA with a Linear/Vercel-inspired dark UI, an Express backend with caching and rate-limiting, and full accessibility — ARIA labels, keyboard navigation, and reduced-motion support throughout.
The centerpiece is Atmos Coach, powered by Gemini 1.5 Flash — it reads your ledger in real time, identifies your biggest emission driver, and builds a personalized weekly action plan. If the AI is ever unavailable, a local rule-based engine takes over seamlessly so the experience never breaks.
Goal: make sustainability feel like progress, not guilt. 🌱
