International Desk: Tensions in the Middle East have escalated further as Iran claimed responsibility for attacks targeting the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and a military air base in Jordan.
According to Iranian state media, the strikes were carried out using missiles and drones in response to recent U.S. military actions in the region. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the attacks were aimed at American military facilities.
U.S. officials said air defense systems intercepted most of the incoming threats and that there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage to American personnel or assets.
Jordanian authorities also confirmed that several missiles and drones were intercepted before reaching their targets. No casualties or major destruction have been reported so far.
The latest exchange has heightened concerns over a broader regional conflict, with international observers warning that continued escalation could further destabilize the Middle East.
Officials from the United States, Bahrain, and Jordan are closely monitoring the situation, while diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further violence.
