DEV·TV just finished #1 for the week of Oct 5 on IndieNeed 🏆, ahead of Aethel Audio and Ovatly.
It launched on Saturday, topped that day's launches, and held on through the end of the week. Not bad for a side project that's one index.html file on GitHub Pages.
Why I launched on IndieNeed
IndieNeed is a launch board built for indie makers, and it's one of the friendliest places I've launched so far:
- Listing is quick. I went from submitting to live without any friction.
- Every product gets a real launch day in "Today's launches," so small projects aren't buried under big companies.
- Weekly winners are archived on the leaderboard, so a good week keeps working for you after it ends.
- The community actually comments. I got feedback and questions, not just clicks.
If you've built something and you're nervous about launching to a huge crowd, start here. It's a great first stage for indie projects.
What DEV·TV is
DEV·TV is a retro TV for developer news. You flip channels instead of opening tabs:
- GITHUB, HACKER NEWS, DEV, HUGGING FACE, RELEASES
- AI PAPERS, LATEST PAPERS, CVE, HN VIDEO, AI VIDEO
- NEW MODELS (fresh listings from OpenRouter) and AGENT SKILLS (new Claude skill repos on GitHub)
- SPOTLIGHT: projects built by the community
Press G for the channel guide and see what's on every channel right now.
The "no infrastructure" part
There's no server, no database, no API keys and no login. Every channel is fetched straight from public APIs in your own browser, and results are cached locally so a failing source never takes the TV down. Each channel loads on its own, so if one is having a bad day, the rest keep playing.
That also means it costs nothing to run, however many people tune in.
★ YOU ON TV
The newest feature: type any GitHub username and DEV·TV runs a special news report on that developer, with top repos, stars, account age and activity, written in breaking-news style from real data. You can download the card or share it.
Try yours and tell me what the headline says.
The road so far
- Product Hunt: #5 Product of the Day
- IndieNeed: #1 on launch day, then #1 for the week
- Spotlight: real community projects on air, including CiCrew and Astratide
- First outside contribution: fullscreen support, from @ashish2712 🙌
Get your project on the Spotlight
If you've built something developers would enjoy, the Spotlight channel is free to be on. Two ways in:
- Press ★ YOU ON TV, enter your username, and tap Submit for Spotlight
- Or open the form directly: https://shouvik12.github.io/devtv/?submit
I review every entry by hand.
Thank you
Big thanks to the IndieNeed team for building a launch board that gives indie projects a fair shot, and to everyone who tried DEV·TV, voted, commented, filed an idea or sent a project. A week ago this was a TV only I watched.

One index.html on GitHub Pages beating bigger launches is the indie dream. Also love that Spotlight is hand-reviewed, which is rare on launch boards. Channel vote from me: keep AGENT SKILLS, and add a "fresh good-first-issues" lane if you ever expand.
Thanks, @madhabcoder ! Keeping Spotlight hand-reviewed is deliberate, since I'd rather feature fewer projects than just fill the slot.
Noted on AGENT SKILLS, it's staying. A "fresh good-first-issues" lane is a really good idea. It would be useful for newcomers looking for a first contribution and for maintainers who want help, and it fits the TV format of showing what's happening right now. I'll look into whether it can run on the same zero-backend setup.
