Hi everyone 👋
A few years ago, I was frustrated with the tools I was using to take notes during my classes. Notion felt too heavy, plain Markdown editors too limited, and nothing really clicked.
So, like many of us do when we can’t find the right tool… I started building my own.
That little side project has grown into Alexandrie: a web app for taking notes in Markdown, offline-first, lightweight, and designed to handle hundreds of notes without getting in your way.
But for me, the most exciting part isn’t just the app itself — it’s the open source journey.
I love coding, but I love it even more when it’s a team sport: reviewing PRs together, getting feedback from real users, and seeing other people’s ideas shape the project. Every suggestion I’ve received so far has helped me see the app in a new light, and that’s the kind of collaboration I want to keep building.
✨ What makes Alexandrie special?
Works offline by default (libraries, classrooms, trains… you name it)
Extended Markdown syntax (snippets, instant formatting, shortcuts)
Simple, fast, and designed for students and creators
100% open source, no hidden tricks
👩💻 Who might enjoy contributing?
- Frontend devs (Vue/Nuxt) who care about clean, elegant UI
- Backend devs (Go) who like performance and simplicity
- Design/UX people who want to improve how a note-taking app feels
- Or just… anyone who wants to chat about ideas and help shape the tool

Even if you don’t write code, feedback is golden. What would make a note-taking app actually useful for your daily life as a student, dev, or creator?
Thanks for reading — and if this sparks any ideas, I’d love to hear them 🙌
