How I Validated AI Prompt Ideas: 8 Prompt Packs Built in 2 Weeks

How I Validated AI Prompt Ideas: 8 Prompt Packs Built in 2 Weeks

Two weeks ago, I had a hypothesis: specific, copy-paste-ready AI prompts solve real problems faster than generic tutorials or courses.

I tested it by building 8 different prompt packs for 8 different niches—real estate, finance, education, and more. Here's what I learned, what worked, and what didn't. If you're thinking about building digital products or exploring AI prompt engineering, this might save you weeks of guessing.

The Setup: Why Prompts?

The traditional advice for digital products is: "Build what you know, sell it." I know AI well. But I don't know real estate like an agent does, or finance like a CFO does. So instead of building courses, I built very specific prompt packs—50-100 copy-paste prompts optimized for a single job.

The bet: if a real estate agent can use these prompts for 5 minutes and save an hour, they'll pay $19. If not, I'd learn why and iterate.

What I Built (in 2 weeks)

  1. Real Estate AI Prompt Pack ($19) — 50 prompts for property descriptions, follow-ups, objection handling, lead qualification
  2. 100 Claude Power Prompts ($9) — General productivity prompts across writing, analysis, coding, brainstorming
  3. Kids Printable Escape Rooms ($5 each, 3 packs) — A different angle: printable, immediate delivery, different audience
  4. Indian Earner's Financial War Room ($4.99) — 7 tools for EMI calculations, SIP planning, tax optimization
  5. Life Decision Simulator ($399) — A higher-ticket decision-making framework

Speed metric: From "what should I build?" to "product live on Gumroad" was 48-72 hours per pack.

The Testing Phase: How I Validated

I didn't wait for sales to know if these were viable. Instead:

1. Real Estate Pack — Direct Outreach

I researched real estate trainers and coaching companies. Sent emails to:

  • Jared James Enterprises (national real estate coach, 100k+ agents trained)
  • Glover U (Jeff Glover's coaching platform)
  • Individual agents I found on LinkedIn

Hypothesis: If these experts see value, real estate agents will too.

2. General Prompts — Content Distribution

I published 8 dev.to articles, one per niche:

  • Python scripting for Web3 developers
  • Productivity prompts for freelancers
  • Financial planning for Indian earners
  • Printable resources for educators

Each article mentioned the relevant Gumroad link honestly—"I made this prompt pack, here's the link if you want it."

Hypothesis: If dev.to readers find the article useful, some will check the product.

3. Measuring What Matters

  • For real estate: Email reply rate % and ask for feedback
  • For general prompts: dev.to views, reactions, and (later) Gumroad clicks
  • For kids products: Search volume, Pinterest/teacher forums

What I Learned

✅ What Worked

  1. Specificity wins over generality. "50 Real Estate Prompts" outperforms "100 General AI Prompts" in email reply rates and interest signaling.
  2. Real people care about time saved. Leads respond when you explicitly say "this saves you 3 hours/week," not "use AI to be productive."
  3. Dev.to is real traffic. Articles get Google-indexed within 48h. Organic search is slow but compound—one article in search results for 12 months beats 100 Reddit posts.

⚠️ What Didn't Work (Yet)

  1. Cold email to generic addresses bounces hard. Sending to "info@" is a guessing game. Personal emails work better.
  2. Products without distribution are invisible. Building a great product and hoping people find it = zero sales. Distribution takes effort equal to or greater than production.
  3. Time zone + async response windows are real. Sent emails at 17:00 UTC on Aug 25. Expecting replies 24-48h later (Aug 26-27). Patience is part of the funnel.

❓ Still Testing

  1. Do dev.to readers convert to buyers? (Waiting 1-2 weeks for organic traffic data)
  2. Does real estate outreach convert? (Awaiting replies from 4 key targets)
  3. Which niche pays fastest? (Early data: real estate + finance > educational)

The Prompt Pack Lineup (If You Want to Try Them)

If any of these sound useful for your work:

What's Next?

For you: If you're building digital products, test with real people before perfecting. A rough product in front of 100 people beats a perfect product in front of nobody.

For me: I'm tracking three things:

  1. Email reply rate from real estate outreach (24-48h window)
  2. Organic traffic from dev.to articles (1-2 weeks)
  3. Conversion rate if any traffic appears (is it 1%, 5%, 10%?)

Once I have data, I'll double down on what works.

One More Thing

If you're reading this and you use AI prompts in your work—real estate, coaching, education, dev, finance—I'd genuinely like to know:

  • Which of these sounds most relevant to you?
  • What problem would a prompt pack solve for you?

Leave a comment. Real feedback is worth more than assumptions.
