AYATORI - Decentralized IP From Gaming -

Inspiration

P to E has definitely expanded BCG, but at the same time it has proven to be unsustainable. even the co-founder of Sky Mavis admits the mistakes of the P to E model. There are also issues regarding IP in the gaming industry. In existing game development, famous IPs (Mario, Pokemon, etc.) are basically monopolized by large companies. IP is important in games. Many people play games because it is a new Mario game or a new Pokemon game. However, it is financially difficult for individual developers and small development companies to use famous IPs.

What it does

We have designed a web3 game with the blockchain's properties of Interoperability and Composability in mind, and the result is a game with the concept of "democratizing the use of IP in game development and expanding web3 native IP from the game". We decided to develop a game based on these two concepts. All information about the IP is stored on the on-chain, and developers are free to use and create derivative works based on the data. With regard to the game we submitted, we felt that when emphasizing the democratization of IP, the game content should not be elaborate. Specifically, we thought that mixing NFT in a very monotonous game system in the form of a public IP demo would make it easier to see where NFT is being used and convey the main theme of democratization of IP. Specifically, they are a mountain climbing game and a chat service.
Game-A (mountain climbing game) is a game in which you aim for the goal while using the ground and obstacles as footholds to avoid falling, and Game-B (chat system) is a service in which you can enter the same space and communicate with other people in short sentences.

How we built it

Technologies Used
Unity: we use it to create game logic and views.
ThirdwebGamingKit: Used to connect wallets and obtain tokens.
Achex: Used for WebSocket server.

Challenges we ran into

This hackathon itself was a challenge because we had never tried the Web3 genre before.
We also tried to develop the game in a short period of time, and we had a hard time deciding whether to prepare a communication function for WS or not. We managed to complete it as a result, so I think it was a good challenge.
It was also a good experience for me to make an appointment with a person who actually knows about game IP and interviewed him or her when thinking about IP issues and their solutions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we were able to prepare two productions, albeit simple ones, and make the assets freely available for external reference in order to meet the requirements for the democratization of IP, which was the theme of the project.
We also wanted to create an SDK to easily access our IP to make the democratization of IP smoother this time, but we had to abandon the idea due to the development time. However, we were able to proceed with the development with a glimpse of the internal design somewhat taking this into account.

What we learned

We were able to learn more about the field of Web3 and how blockchain and NFT work by actually working with them.
We were also able to see a variety of ideas in this still developing field, which provided us with a wide variety of inspiration.

What's next for AYATORI

Users are essential to the development of IP, and in order for users to stick around, the content must have a different appeal.
What we propose here is the democratization of the IP itself. In other words, the appeal of the IP concept we have proposed is the freedom to create content.
Therefore, we believe it is necessary to lower the threshold for development to enrich content as much as possible.
Therefore, we believe that the next step is to develop an SDK to facilitate access to IP.
