They have some great support - signal, mozilla! I wonder if Skiff will be open core or FOSS? ... Skiff blog mentions incremental open sourcing!

I have been starting to use Skiff. It is okay, still seems like its under active development, so needs some more polish.

Also, another one for Google Translate: Lingva Translate

Thanks. Never heard about it, did you test it?

Yes, I don't actually use it a lot like on a day-to-day basis, but it works fine. It's actually a front-end for Google Translate itself as it scrapes through it, and is inspired by NewPipe, Nitter, etc. Here is the repository.

Thanks for great post on the summary😊

I use Standard Notes instead of Google Keep and ProtonMail Calendar (beta) instead of Google Calendar.

I have been using Standard Notes for the last two years. It works well, but I still want something more feature rich. I haven't had time to try out FOSS alternatives lately, but I will keep shopping at some point.

Thanks for sharing, I'm less familiar with Google Keep and its alternatives but Protonmail Calendar works great.

Awesome post, thanks for sharing this list.

Another Great alternative to Youtube is LBRY Odysee. It's really good and doesn't censor things (Including potentially offensive content).

potentially offensive content

Wonderful platform but I agree with you, too much garbage and offensive content. Is it the price of total freedom of speech? I don't know. Despite this problem, it seems more fair than YouTube's moderation, which sometimes cuts too much and encourages strike campaigns.

F-droid contains only open-source applications. If you need a full google play store alternative, you can use Aurora store.

P.S.- Installing Aurora store requires F-Droid though or can be downloaded from F-droid website

Sorry to pop the party, but this just made me curious, and knowing that this is an open community with people ready to discuss topics... I'm taking my shot. I've just seen lately a lot of posts about "giving up on Google suite" or "give up on Microsoft", those being truly almost complete ecosystems that are easily managed and in sync with low to no effort. What would be your reasons for giving up on a whole suite of apps, excluding the "sharing information with Google/Microsoft" part? Are there any other reasons? I get it for things like Translate where language may have an impact of the results and Maps may work poorly in some countries, I'm curious about the general ones like mail, drive, browser, search engine, meet app.

Hi, you don't pop any party. Feel free to express your opinion.

What would be your reasons for giving up on a whole suite of apps, excluding the "sharing information with Google/Microsoft" part?

Privacy threat is more than enough, to me. The good news is there are credible alternatives, not just clones with less tested code and features, "competitors" that Google/Microsoft did not manage to buy yet.

Murena is selling a degoogled fairphone in the US now. It comes with its own app store, which seems similar to Aurora.

I use invidious for YouTube front end, but I am hoping someone eventually combines invidious with sepia search, so you get peertube hits first followed by invidious/you tube hits.
