Ransomware attacks can lock you out of your own business in seconds. Always follow the 3-2-1 rule:
- Keep 3 copies of your data.
- Store them on 2 different types of media.
- Keep 1 copy completely offsite (like secure cloud storage). Automate your website and app backups so you never have to think about it!

As a web developer, I see this all the time: a business website gets hacked simply because they didn't update a WordPress plugin for six months. Hackers use automated bots to scan the internet for outdated software. Turn on auto-updates for minor patches and regularly audit your web applications.
4. Train Your Team Against AI Phishing
Phishing emails don't look like Nigerian Prince scams anymore. AI tools have made it incredibly easy for hackers to write perfect, personalized emails pretending to be your bank or your boss. Train your employees to always double-check before clicking links or downloading attachments.
5. Adopt a "Zero Trust" Mindset
Not everyone in your company needs access to everything. A freelance graphic designer doesn't need admin access to your website’s backend. Give your team access only to the tools and data they need to do their specific jobs. This limits the damage if one account gets compromised.
