Hussein's TLDR: The struggle IS the point. Debugging, failing, going down rabbit holes that's not wasted time, that's how you build engineering intuition. AI can ship code but it can't give you understanding. Companies want output, but if you outsource all the thinking, you become a prompt jockey who can't function without the tool. Software is shit regardless so at least make sure YOU understand the shit you're shipping.
MY RANT
whatever he said resonates with me i did listen to the whole 30 minutes of his video, and it made some sense to me, but yes i understand that i wouldnt get the passive learning that i would get while i go off topic to understand why something changed the way it did, but today i dont know if that is the right way when the creator of bun rewrote the entire framework from zig to rust in 11 days but i know as hassan said software is shit, even the creator of zig said that bun is the perfect example of how not to use zig.
but for the past year or so i have been completely depedent on it, my workflow is a terminal with a tmux session with multiple windows and panes, each windows for a project and multiple panes for two or three pi or claude code sessions and other two run the application. i would prompt the agent to come up with an implementation plan check it see if it makes sense then tell it implement it, the i test it myselft, then i tell another agent to review it and last few month after creating a pr my code was reviewed by another agent(github copilot review) and was given other suggestion i fix that with another agent then push it to dev. like he said i was loosing the satisfaction that i got day by day. but how can i keep up with other engineers who are good at this than me. people who have like 10 years of experience they have done their work and they know shit and they can use these tools and become so called 10x engineers when compared to them without ai i am not even 1x engineer. so can i afford not to use it and fall behind the rest of the group. i dont know.
this is a rant and im not going to write a tldr for it, if you read till here tell me what do you think!!?
(i only have a total of 15 months of experience in the industry as a salaried full time engineer)
