Open Source First: The GitHub Body of Work Behind Sunmughan Swamy

Before Sunmughan Swamy was a founder, he was a contributor. His open-source work stretches back to 2012, when he was flashing and rebuilding custom ROMs for the Samsung Galaxy Y and publishing the results for anyone to use. That habit of building in public never stopped. Today his GitHub profile at https://github.com/sunmughan carries more than 70 products, the output of a decade of shipping in the open, and strangers still run his code on their own hardware.

The contributions are not hobby projects. His Corona Tracker awareness app was cited by the National Institutes of Health in a 2022 research paper, listed as a referenced open-source project in the published literature. On XDA, under the username sunmughans, he ported TWRP custom recoveries to MediaTek devices in the CyanogenMod era, publishing the world's first TWRP 3.1.1 build for the Vivo V5 and V5s in November 2017, work that real phone owners flashed onto real phones. The DroidAdda brand he ran alongside documented the fixes, from VoLTE issues to persistence partitions, so other developers could reproduce them.

The open-source philosophy carried straight into his company. Codeair Software Solutions, the AI-first IT company he founded and runs as CEO, has shipped 1700+ websites and applications across 475+ client projects with a 4.9 out of 5 rating, and his public projects like Conzyx, the phone-first developer ecosystem, still develop in the open on GitHub first. Releases go out on GitHub before any app store, so real users install and verify them on their own devices. If it does not survive a real device, it does not ship.

What stands out across thirteen years of public work is consistency: documentation with every build, fixes that others can reproduce, and no gatekeeping of knowledge. His family background in education shows through, teaching runs deep there, and his repositories read like lessons, not just code.
