PlateCost: recipe costing without the fragile kitchen spreadsheet

Pack prices change mid-week. Yields are never 100%. The recipe cost sheet still multiplies yesterday’s unit costs — until the food-cost meeting, when nobody trusts the number.

PlateCost is a free, local-first recipe and plate costing workpaper for chefs and F&B managers. No account. No upload.

What you get

  • Ingredient pack cost → unit cost with yield loss
  • Recipes with lines, batch servings, and batch yield
  • Plate cost, food cost % vs target, contribution margin
  • Weekly covers → weekly food $ and contribution
  • Simple menu engineering: star / plowhorse / puzzle / dog

Honest limits

Not a POS, inventory, or purchasing system. You enter pack prices and yields.
