This post is my submission for DEV Education Track: Build Apps with Google AI Studio.
What I Built
I created an RPG Character Portrait Generator using the Imagen API. The app lets users generate custom character portraits by entering prompts like “epic fantasy warrior with silver armor” or “mystical elf mage in a forest.” I also integrated features to download images and save favorite designs. Inspiration and some assets came from my portfolio (ahmershah.dev).

My Experience
Sharing my project with the DEV community helped me reflect on the development process and the importance of prompt design for AI image generation. I learned how small changes in wording can drastically alter the output. Deploying the app and documenting the process improved my full-stack workflow and gave me insights into what makes an app user-friendly and interactive.
One surprising takeaway was how quickly users can experiment with designs once AI generation is automated—it really opens up creative possibilities.
