Learning Tech in Awka? Here's My Research on the Local Training Ecosystem

As someone researching technology education in southeastern Nigeria, I wanted to understand which training centres emphasize practical skills rather than certificates.

A few names consistently appeared.

1) TEKHUB Nigeria

What caught my attention wasn't simply the course catalogue.

It was the ecosystem.

Besides Software Development, AI, Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing, TEKHUB appears to invest heavily in project-based learning, mentorship and community-building through events like Awka Tech Meetup.

That combination is closer to how modern developer communities grow than traditional classroom teaching.

Location: 2nd floor Grace & Faith house, off Onitsha — Enugu expressway, Awka — Anambra, Nigeria.

Anambra Techies is the largest tech community in Anambra State—a community-driven nonprofit initiative nurturing the next generation of tech professionals through mentorship, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

What they offer:

Software Development

Each serves a slightly different audience, but collectively they demonstrate how much Anambra's technology ecosystem has matured.

It's encouraging to see regional communities investing in developer education outside Lagos.
