Pentagon clears Salesforce Agentforce for IL5 defense logistics
Dow signs on. The IL5 authorization is a first for a commercial agent platform.
Salesforce announced that Agentforce has been cleared for IL5 workloads on GovCloud and that Dow is deploying it for defense-adjacent logistics under a program called Mission Readiness. IL5 is the Impact Level covering controlled unclassified information and mission-critical national security systems.
Here is the deployment-reality question nobody in the press release wanted to answer: what is the auth model, what are the permission boundaries, and what happens when an agent takes an action a human operator did not approve?
Why it matters: IL5 clearance sets the ceiling for commercial agent deployment in regulated environments.
IL5 authorization is a compliance floor, not a safety guarantee.
- First commercial agent platform to clear it
- Zero published error rates
A second agent platform files for the same authorization
The queue is forming.
A second vendor confirmed it has entered the accreditation pipeline for the same impact level, which changes the competitive question from whether to when.
Why it matters: Your procurement shortlist is about to get longer.
