I'm sitting here working on my fundamental programming-skills and just found the perfect analogy for what I'm actually doing: It's craftmanship, almost like an artform. Even though I already know how to finish the task the seventh time, my brain structures the required steps much faster. Everyone can use a hammer and a nail, but a carpenter has run the miles, if you know what I mean.
I have a history in design and art, and I can say that this is just as much of a marathon as any other craft.
