Hi guys, I'm a junior software developer from Oxfordshire, England and I'm currently working for a company called Adactus Ltd who specialize in bespoke websites for companies. We mainly work in ASP .Net MVC so C# is my main language which I've been doing for almost 3 years now (in January 2019). I got my job through an apprenticeship so I'm currently doing a degree alongside my work, it's a lot of work and I have almost no social life because of it but I enjoy it so can't complain!
I don't have any projects that I've done on my own, they've all been things at work that I've been part of a team so I've recently decided to build my own site and I'm going down the .Net core route with it. After I've built that I hope to try and get some clients of my own to build websites for so I have more productive stuff to do in my free time.
I look forward to hearing from you all and being part of the community!
Happy programming :)
Hello! I'm an Assembly and C hobbyist. Nice to meet you all.
Hi,
Just joined this via twitter.
20+ software dev experience , started life at the unix command window running scripts to build programs, now I find myself on a mac at the unix command window running scripts to build programs albeit with gradlew :) Lots has changed in 20 years but not the fundamentals have not.
I hope I can learn lots on this forum + contribute as best I can .
Look forward to interacting and posting as I go.
John
Hi everyone! Discovered this website not too long ago from twitter, so I guess I'm late to the party.
My name is Ashwin, I'm 26 years old and I've been working as a full-stack software engineer with startups in India. I've also been dabbling with quite a bit of Machine Learning / Deep Learning as well. My interests (in no particular order) include programming, user experience, AI, fitness, and astronomy, so if you like these, please hit me up. :)
I had a very long career break -since 2017 - and I just started working again couple of months ago - that's almost like two years! Although I feel like I could have optimised my schedule and could have been even more productive, this break was perhaps the best decision I ever made for myself! ;) Got into teaching, writing and a whole lot of activities. I've been an active member of communities like freeCodeCamp, Code Like A Girl, and Towards Data Science - I write for these publications and also do a lot of editing work - so if you want to exchange any kind of writing tips, feel free to holler at me!
My goal is to eventually switch from full stack into something that's completely data science / deep learning oriented. But as it turns out, it's a whole lot harder than it looks like! I did however manage to do lots of side projects and write blog posts along the way - medium.com/@booleanhunter
The most important thing that I have learnt, after working in extremely fast-paced environments before -
I'm curious to hear from y'all as to what are your favourite past-times / activities that you do?
P.S: I'm going to take time and read through all the awesome posts in this welcome thread, and see all the book recommendations. :D
Just like yours, I follow different tech blogs, and gizmo updates on various sites. The current innovation and updates of the field lures me to express my views and thoughts on certain topics.
I am looking to contribute a post in your blog and it will be great if you allow so.
Hey everyone, just joined from a recommendation in Twitter. Wanting to learn F# and Python.
Fun fact: I run Code Clubs at my local school.
Welcome!
Thanks helen :)
Great to be a part of community of developers
Hello!
My name is Igor.
I am a web application developer and am currently trying to create my own software development company.
For web development I use VueJS, NodeJS, Angular, Quasar, MySQl, Oracle, MSSQL and other libraries and technologies
I have experience with big data: deploying and using a cluster hashup, data processing (Spark, Scala), a web interface for visualizing the results.
If you want to understand it yourself - try to explain it to people
To study new topics, I try to write and publish articles.

Hi everyone, I'm new to web development. Just jumping in here to say that I love JS and Python, and that once I've created a couple of projects on my on, I'll be taking Go for a nice, smooth dance to the stars.

I'm Mary, a student. Am new to dev. Am currently taking a course on web dev hoping to become a full stack web developer
I a have been a student of computer science components, never really aced any one of them because each of them is fascinating and I have kept on reading up on some of them. I particularly an attracted by the limitless refinement that is possible in deploying software library, language, framework, hardware , design patterns, data mining, data warehouse, BPMN, rule engines.
A few books that I can recall if special liking are design patterns by gang of four, code complete 2, PHP in action (brilliantly written, for any language), C++ by Bjarne straustrope, scalable website by Carl Henderson...I have programmed in PHP, Java and cold fusion + openBD. Keen to tackle an architectural challenge for scale
