Hey everyone, been around for around a week and I've been learning so much I honestly can't keep up. Luckily I'm going on a 3h bus ride tomorrow so I'll have time to read all the amazing posts I have in the Reading List.
I'm 30 and currently unemployed after struggling with the appearance of a chronic disease. Regardless I decided to get back into IT (was never a big shot dev, only ever did helpdesk) and I'm studying tirelessly to eventually work in Cloud. Currently learning Python as I think having a solid basis of programming is important to any IT professional. Then I'll be deepening my knowledge of Linux and learning Bash, and eventually studying Azure or AWS stuff.
Thanks for having me :D
Best of luck Ricardo! I’m just starting my journey as well. I decided to start with Ruby instead (not b/c it was a good/better idea but b/c I didn’t really know where to start, just that I had to pick a starting point) but I still think that maybe I should have chosen Python, or JS, or even HTML or CSS.
Seems like you have a good idea of the direction you want to travel. Keep up the study!
Great to have you Ricardo!
Good luck! You still young
Welcome folks!
I highly recommend your first action be to seek out a post you find interesting and say something nice as a comment in the discussion!
Maybe it's just "Hey, great post!", or maybe it's a constructive addition to what the author had in mind — or maybe it's a question for the author so that they can expand on the content of the post.
Anyway, great to have you and happy coding!
Great to have you Chola!
Nice work 👌🏻
Hi guys, im new here. Seems to be a lot of interesting things here. Im currently trying to learn python, have a little knowledge in css, html and javascript, and try to code as much as possible. Hello Denis here. I'm an interested newbie in data analysis and python. I just finished my google certificate data analyst and found some stuff here that works great for getting data from the web. Seems to be a nice place to learn a lot.
Hi Denis,
Im curious can i ask what kind of data you found here, that you wanna get. I dont know what kind of data to analyze at all. I would like to try making something i python.
Hi Zuzu. I want to start analysing twitter and here I found some actual articles about it. First I tried Web searches but there found articles are often outdated. Here in dev.to writes a guy who works at twitter and shares knowledge. And yes he describes a python package called tweepy.

Empire Lube Equipment - Filter Regulator Lubricator
Air leaving a compressor is hot, dirty, and wet—which can damage and shorten the life of downstream equipment, including valves, cylinders, and air tools. So before compressed air exits the system, it needs to be cleaned and lubricated. That’s where an FRL comes in! An FRL combines a filter regulator lubricator into one component to keep air compressor systems in optimal working condition.

Hello everyone, I'm a founder and a developer of the online education startup. I'll share my experience while building the product as well as learn the best practices on some topics that interest me (Laravel, PHP, Javascript).
Hello folks, I was brought here because I wanted to learn more about the world of programming because I was very interested, and I wanted to make something that could help many people with what I have learned.
Hi 👋 I am Pedro, a front-end developer and a software engineer graduated from Venezuela.
My goal is to become a complete professional, with skills beyond the practical application of the knowledge acquired in the career. I learned and practiced HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Bootstrap, WordPress and SEO.
Hello there 👋 I’m Zaynab. I just started my coding journey with html & CSS. Will like to learn JavaScript because it seems like it is the answer to most coding issues and it’s flexible once you’re good at it. Then I will like to learn react and scala afterwards.my goal is to be a frontend developer. Nice to be here✌️
Hey everyone! I just joined the platform and am excited to engage with the dev community and share some of my experience in the Web3 world. I have previously worked at The Boring Company, NASA, Amazon, and Microsoft as a Software Engineer Intern and worked full-time at some startups. My primary experience has been in web and mobile dev, and now I have been learning and building in Web3! Currently, I am a Developer Advocate at Decentology, where we are on a mission to onboard the next 10 million JavaScript developers to Web3.
Follow me if you want to learn how easy a Web2 developer can build Dapps without picking up another programming language and learn about beginner-friendly topics in Web3!
Looking forward to engaging with you all! 🚀
Hi! I've been a software developer for 20+ years, specializing in systems software (embedded, both bare-metal and on top of linux, full-stack web development) with a deep interest in pragmatic code influenced by theoretical thinking.
The languages I have used professionally (and love) are Common Lisp, C, C++, Golang, PHP, Javascript, Python, Java. I am coming out of a 10 year job doing embedded development in C++, Python and Golang, and am back as a Principal Engineer at an E-commerce company doing PHP, Typescript with Wordpress and React as main frameworks. I am writing open-source software in Golang when I find the time.
Languages I have "seriously" played with (hobby level) that I didn't click with are: Rust (although that one I am going to give another try), Clojure, Haskell and Scala. I have used Lua for video games with PICO-8 and it's been great fun, and I could see using it in a professional setting one day too.
If I had the time to pursue some new concepts and languages, I would be very interested in working with elixir/erlang and elm, as well as dabbling with some more academic languages .
I am excited to start writing on dev.to and being part of the community, it's been way overdue!
hello every1, my name’s Gustavo Rocha, 20. I’m in my second year of computer science degree and I’m learning a lot of things at the same time at university, but I feel like I’m learning nothing [useful], so I’m kinda desperate to find my place in this huge tech world.
I randomly found this social net somewhere and I really liked its proposal. I’ve been reading some topics and stuff and thought that this could help me a lot throughout my brand new journey.
I kind of know some languages, such as java, c, python, sql but I still don’t feel confident enough with them to say “I KNOW” out loud. but i’m on my way to get fluent on them, so all I need is learn to be patient, I guess…
I’ve got a github, which has a couple of posts for now, but i’m trying to fill it with more things as I learn new things.

Hi Everyone, this is Shardul. So good to see likeminded folks around!
I am building a time travel debugging tool called Videobug. It records code execution and shows it to developers in their IDE.
When I used to get that frantic alert that something is wrong with production, I almost always lost a night's sleep. I am building Videobug to solve my own production issues.
Do check my blogpost here: dev.to/shardul/videobug-time-trave...
Try Videobug and let me know your feedback!

Currently I'm brushing up on my Ruby on Rails, but learned JS, react, etc before that.

I strongly advise you to start by looking for a topic that interests you and leaving a pleasant remark in the debate!
Maybe it's just "Hey, excellent article!" or it might be a constructive contribution to what the author had in mind — or it may be a question for the author to elaborate on the substance of the piece.
Anyway, it's nice to have you here, and happy coding!
