Meet TheToolsAura: A 100% Client-Side, Privacy-First Web Workstation

Hey Devs! πŸ‘‹

We all use quick online tools for our daily tasks whether it's converting a file, compressing an image, merging PDFs, formatting JSON, or generating a QR code. But uploading private files or sensitive data to random backend servers always feels risky.

That’s why I built TheToolsAura.

It’s a 100% client-side browser workstation where your files and data never leave your computer. Everything runs locally in your browser using modern web APIs. No uploads, no servers, and zero signups.

What's under the hood?

Local Converters: Swift and secure file conversions directly in-browser.

PDF & Image Tools: Merge PDFs and compress images locally without losing quality.

Developer Utilities: Quick JWT Decoder, JSON formatter, and Base64 converters or More.

Design Helpers: Local SVG viewer, SVG striped generator, and a smart color picker.

Since it's built on Next.js and has PWA support, you can install it on your Desktop or Mobile as a native offline app!

Check it out and let me know your thoughts:

client side workstation is an ambitious frame - we stopped at swapfile.live doing conversions only (pdf, office, images, video) and that alone ate all our edge cases. curious how you scope what runs in the tab vs what still needs a server, if anything does

You're right. We try to keep everything running in the browser whenever possible. This helps keep users' files private and reduces server costs. The main challenges are large files, browser memory limits, and support for different file formats. Every tool is different, so we handle each one based on what it needs. With TheToolsAura, our goal is to keep tools simple, fast, and private instead of sending everything to a server. File conversion can get complicated quickly. What's been the hardest problem you've faced with file conversions on Swapfile?
