When TikTok comments are not loading, first open the same video on TikTok and check whether its discussion loads there. This separates a problem with the original video or app from a problem with a third-party capture. Then check whether you are looking at a fresh result, an older result retained after a failed request, or a filtered subset.

Those situations can look similar on screen. They need different fixes. Clearing an app cache cannot repair a failed browser capture, and removing a local search filter cannot reveal a comment that was never returned. Use the checks below before retrying or changing your comment settings.

Key Takeaways

  • Compare the exact video on TikTok before diagnosing a third-party comment result.
  • Creator approval and keyword filters can affect which comments become visible.
  • A failed TokViewer request can leave the previous result visible; verify its source before using it.
  • A captured set or filtered export does not establish that every comment and reply was collected.

Identify where the comments stop loading

Start with the video URL, not the number shown next to its comment icon. Copy the exact link you are checking and confirm that both pages refer to the same video. A creator's profile page, an old tab and a newly pasted video can otherwise get mixed together.

What you see What to check next What it does not prove
Discussion fails on TikTok itself Connection, app or browser session, and another public video That a third-party tool can recover it
TikTok loads, but a capture fails The capture status and the submitted video URL That the video's comments disappeared
Rows remain after a failed request Source video and capture time of the visible result That the new request succeeded
A result loads but a search finds nothing Clear the local filter and inspect the returned set That nobody posted the searched phrase
A displayed count exceeds returned rows Scope, replies, loading and capture timing That the missing difference is recoverable

Write down which row describes your problem. It makes the next action more useful than repeating the same request without a record.

Check the original video before changing the app

Open the link on TikTok, wait for the discussion to load, and compare it with another public video. If only one video is affected, focus on that video's accessibility and settings. If multiple discussions fail, compare a second connection or an ordinary browser session where available. These are diagnostic comparisons, not guaranteed repairs.

If the problem happens in the app, restarting it or checking for an update is a reasonable next step. Keep track of whether each action changes the result. Avoid reinstalling immediately if you have unsaved work or local drafts you need to preserve. This guide does not claim that clearing a cache or reinstalling always fixes comment loading.

Record the time and error message before you retry. A screenshot of a loading indicator is more useful when it also identifies the video and the point at which loading stopped. Do not include private account details in a public troubleshooting post.

Account for creator filters and approval

Comments can be hidden pending approval or because they match a creator's configured keywords. TikTok's comment-management support page explains that its filter-all-comments feature hides comments until approval and that the feature is not available to every user. It also describes keyword filtering. The page was reviewed in Chinese on October 11, 2026; labels can differ by language and app version.

If you own the video, review the relevant settings and approval queue. Decide which comments should be visible according to your moderation needs. Do not disable protections just because a generic troubleshooting checklist says to show every comment.

If you are viewing someone else's video, you cannot approve their hidden comments or change their settings. A browser viewer also cannot promise access to private, deleted or otherwise inaccessible content. Treat the visibility limit as a boundary, not as an invitation to keep retrying until hidden material appears.

Distinguish a failed capture from an empty result

A failed request means the tool did not complete that request successfully. An empty returned set means a request produced no usable rows for that scope. Neither statement establishes that the original video has zero comments.

In the October 11 TokViewer version, a timeout, cancellation or failed request can leave earlier results available. That prevents a failed attempt from destroying work you were already reviewing. It also creates an important checking step: confirm the visible video's source, video ID and capture time before describing those rows as a new result.

For example, suppose you capture video A successfully, then submit video B and receive an error. Rows from A may still be visible. Exporting those rows and naming the file after B would create a misleading record. Keep A's result labeled as A, and record B's failed attempt separately.

The public comment viewer guide explains the captured-set boundary. Its October 2 export description predates the current scope selector; check the chosen export scope in the active workspace.

Clear local filters before judging coverage

A local search narrows rows already returned for the current video. It does not search all TikTok comments, and it does not initiate a new collection merely because you type a username or phrase.

Clear the search field and any active reading filters. Check whether more captured rows reappear. If they do, your previous view was a subset. If they do not, continue checking the capture scope rather than broadening claims about the original discussion.

TokViewer's current workspace offers two export scopes: All captured comments and Filtered comments. The default is all captured comments. Choose the filtered scope if you want the active reading subset; a visible reading filter alone does not change an all-captured export. Sign-in is required to export; after sign-in, recheck the source and selected scope before continuing. Record the exact filter with a filtered file. The comment search guide provides additional reading context.

Keep a reproducible troubleshooting record

Use a small record for each attempt:

Field What to record
Source Exact public video URL and returned video ID, if available
Time Attempt time, time zone and result capture time
Original-site check Loaded, failed, inaccessible or not checked
Tool outcome Success, empty, timeout, cancelled or other error
Visible result New result or retained previous result
Filter Exact search text, other filters, or none
Export scope Filtered subset or available captured set

Save a new version after a later attempt rather than silently overwriting the first record. A changing discussion, different capture time or revised filter can change the file without either file being an error.

Once you have a correctly identified result, use the CSV export guide to plan your analysis. Check current filtering behavior before downloading. If loading still fails, report the source, time, outcome and original-site comparison to support. That gives the investigation a concrete starting point without claiming that an incomplete capture represents the entire conversation.
