Building a Personal Portfolio Website with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
A personal portfolio website is a useful way for developers to present their skills, projects, and learning journey in one place. It allows recruiters and other developers to understand what you can build and which technologies you have used. As part of my Full Stack Web App Development Internship at Valentius Kryptix, I worked on creating a responsive portfolio website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Creating the Website Structure with HTML
HTML provides the foundation of the website. I organized the content into important sections, including Home, About, Skills, Projects, and Contact. I also used semantic HTML elements to make the structure more meaningful and easier to maintain.
The Projects section highlights two of my development projects:AgriVista – Smart Crop Recommendation System and a School Management System. These projects demonstrate my experience with different technologies and help visitors understand my practical development work.
Designing a Responsive Interface with CSS
CSS was used to create the website's visual appearance, including its layout, colors, spacing, typography, and project cards. I focused on keeping the interface clean and professional so that visitors could find information easily.
Responsive design was another important part of the development process. By using flexible layouts and media queries, I worked to make the website usable across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes. A responsive portfolio is important because visitors may access it from different devices.
Adding Interactivity with JavaScript
JavaScript adds interactive behavior to the website. I implemented a mobile navigation menu that can be opened and closed, making navigation easier on smaller screens.
This feature also helped me understand how JavaScript can work with HTML elements and CSS classes to update the user interface in response to user actions.
Key Lessons from the Project
Building this portfolio helped me practice several important frontend development concepts:
- Structuring web pages with semantic HTML.
- Creating layouts and responsive designs with CSS.
- Adding interactive features using JavaScript.
- Organizing project information clearly.
- Using Git and GitHub to maintain and share project code.
The project also showed me that a portfolio is not just about appearance. Clear project descriptions, working links, readable content, and a consistent design are equally important.
Conclusion
Creating a personal portfolio website was a valuable step in my web development journey. It gave me an opportunity to combine HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into a practical project while presenting my work professionally. I plan to continue improving the website by adding more projects, screenshots, and detailed project documentation.
