Yaser El-Waly and the Practice of Good Character

Yaser El-Waly and the Practice of Good Character
A Faith Lived in Ordinary Moments
Yaser El-Waly has lived for many years now in Perth, Western Australia, and his life is still being guided by the teachings of Islam. As an adult living in West Australia who is nearing his fifties, he thinks that the essence of faith can best be demonstrated through the practice of life. In fact, the way one communicates, keeps their promises, and interacts with people means as much as what one learns from the Quran.
Deen has evolved through a period of years through learning, meditation, and prayers. Nevertheless, Deen hardly perceives learning as an end in itself. There is always another verse to be read, something else to be learned, and another time to pray to Allah.
Character Before Reputation
One thought that runs through the conversations of Yaser El-Waly is that integrity should never be conditional upon the presence of spectators. He urges individuals to be sincere both privately and publicly since sincerity is considered one of the best proofs of faith.
He talks about patience as if he has traveled the route himself, and not as if he has just heard about it. When discussing Islam, he frequently returns to the importance of intention. Every decision, whether small or significant, deserves careful thought because each one is ultimately made before Allah. That perspective gives his guidance a calm and considered tone.
Serving Through Everyday Responsibility
Not only at his house, but also beyond, Yaser El-Waly continues to engage himself in teaching, mentoring, and philanthropy within Perth's Muslim community. In his opinion, doing all that he does comes under the banner of following the Qur'an and the Sunnah and not individual accomplishments. Teaching and assisting others come quite naturally when one is a believer.
Moreover, family still has a prominent role in his worldview. His respect for his parents, maintaining connections with his relatives, and empathy in conflicts are among the issues that he often discusses.

A Consistent Way of Living
It is common knowledge for those who know Yaser El-Waly throughout his career that his values can still be seen in the most common activities. Regardless of whether he is interacting with his family members, helping someone, or engaging with the community, he treats all of these activities with similar dedication.
This West Australian man’s leadership qualities, humbleness, discipline, charity, and service do not constitute different ideals for him; rather, these come out of his entire life dedicated to Deen and his continuous awareness of Allah at all times.
