"Build it, and they will come..." – They said.
"Release an awesome AI-powered tool, and the stars will rain down on you!" – They said.
P.S. Now there is no trust in articles and posts about how to earn a lot of stars on GitHub and that a beautiful README matters a lot. All of this is fiction that does not work today. This myth was 💥 Busted!
Well, here I am, stuck at 979 stars 😩, and that number has barely moved for weeks.
I’ve been building Wunjo, an Open Source AI-powered video editing tool that can today automatically cut, highlight, and transform videos with a simple text prompt. Sounds cool, right? Yet, getting to 1K stars on GitHub feels like an endless grind. This is a set of tools in software to optimization process of video, photo editing and API (API Docs) inside for other pet-projects.
I don’t enjoy manual video editing—it takes forever. Finding the right cuts, trimming, syncing audio… it’s exhausting. That’s why I built Wunjo:
✅ Upload any video (even hours long!)
✅ Describe what you want: "Make a highlights reel," "Cut out dull moments," "Find all goals & red cards"
✅ AI does the rest – detects key moments, edits them together, and delivers a polished video. You also can settings duuration, for example to get shorts for YouTube or TikTok.
Wunjo can even analyze specific fragments to answer:
❓ "What’s happening in this scene?"
❓ "What are people wearing?"
❓ "How is the light falling?"
Future updates might allow editing videos based on sound, for making interview shorts, news clips, and more.
But… Where Are My Stars?
I’m constantly improving the project, adding features, optimizing performance, and sharing updates. But that 1K star milestone just keeps teasing me. Only 21 stars left, yet it’s been like this for WEEKS.
So, fellow devs, I need your wisdom:
💬 How do you promote your Open Source projects?
💬 Have you struggled with GitHub star plateaus?
💬 Any tips for getting more eyes on a project?
Let’s talk! And, well… if Wunjo sounds useful, maybe drop a star? ⭐😉
