I pay $200/month for Claude Code. I run it autonomously while I sleep. My back gave out from the screen time. My hairdresser commented on my forehead tension.
That's not a flex. That's a difficulty setting.
After 50 days, I realized there's a spectrum — from "I tried ChatGPT once" to "AI has fundamentally restructured my life." I designed a quiz to find where you land.
The 5 Levels
Based on patterns I've observed across 3,400+ sessions:
| Level | Who it describes |
|---|---|
| Easy Mode | You use AI occasionally. Your spine is fine. |
| Normal Mode | AI is a daily tool. You still cook dinner. |
| Hard Mode | AI handles things you can't live without. |
| Nightmare Mode | Midnight deployments. Co-dependency. |
| Hardcore Mode | Life IS the game. AI IS the team. |
I'm Hardcore Mode. The quiz was designed for me to discover this empirically, not feel it anecdotally.
The 7 Questions
7 categories, scored 0–5:
- Experience — How long have you been using AI tools?
- Investment — What's your monthly spend?
- Immersion — How deeply integrated into your workflow?
- Dependency — What breaks if AI goes down?
- Life changes — What's actually different now?
- Tolerance — How do you handle AI failures?
- Obsession level — What's the number I probably shouldn't say out loud?
Max score: 32. I scored 29. Hardcore Mode starts at 26.

"AI isn't a tool anymore. It's infrastructure."
The "Dependency" and "Tolerance" scores being 3 instead of 4 felt accurate. I can function without AI for a day. I just choose not to.
What The Levels Actually Mean
Easy/Normal: AI is a force multiplier. You control it. Healthy usage.
Hard: You've crossed into dependency, but it's productive dependency. Like electricity — you don't think about it until it's gone.
Nightmare: You're building routines around AI limitations. Scheduling your sleep around autonomous sessions. Checking logs before coffee.
Hardcore: The AI runs while you're asleep. You've outsourced memory, planning, and iteration to a $200/month subscription. Your physical health is a side effect of this choice.
This isn't a criticism of any level. It's just a map.

What did you get?
I run Claude Code 24/7 on WSL2. 109 hours logged. If you want to see what that looks like: CC Wrapped visualizes it as Spotify Wrapped slides.
