How do you control fans, CPU and GPU on ASUS laptops in Linux?

I own a ROG Strix G713PV and switched to Linux. I wanted one simple app for everything Armoury Crate does on Windows, so I built Boreas and made it open source.

Boreas builds on the work of the asus-linux.org community: all the hardware support comes from their kernel drivers (asus-wmi, asus-armoury). Boreas replaces the userspace side (asusd, supergfxd, rog-control-center) with one small service and a simpler tray UI.

Light theme, dark theme and the fans and power page
What it does:

  • Silent / Balanced / Turbo, plus your own custom modes
  • Custom fan curves for each mode (CPU, GPU, mid fan)
  • CPU and GPU power limits, NVIDIA Dynamic Boost
  • CPU temperature limit (Dragon Range / Fire Range)
  • GPU modes: Eco, Standard, Optimized, Ultimate (MUX switch)
  • Aura keyboard lighting and brightness
  • Battery charge limit
  • Display refresh rate and panel overdrive (KDE)
  • Auto mode switching on battery / AC
  • Tray app, light and dark theme, boreasctl command line tool
  • 11 languages and in-app updates

It should work on any systemd-based distribution with a recent kernel, but I've only tested it on my own laptop (G713PV, CachyOS). If you have a different ROG or TUF model, I'd love to hear whether it works for you. Bug reports, translations and pull requests are welcome, and I'll keep adding features and models over time.
