Hardcore players know the rule: one life, no second try. I wanted to turn that feeling into something you can try in a few minutes, so I built 1inLFG, a free fan-made browser game inspired by 1 in 8 Billion.
You are born as a random hero (race, class, faction). Then you watch their whole life, from level 1 to 60, with real Classic items, quests and dungeons. Now and then you make a big choice, and the world answers. Sometimes the cautious option is the one that kills you.
What was fun to build
- A life is a long list of small events picked by rules (zone, level, class, gear), so two runs almost never tell the same story.
- Deaths have to feel earned and a little silly, not random. Balance is the hard part: too deadly and nobody reaches level 20, not deadly enough and it stops being hardcore.
- No account, no install, works on mobile, English and French.
It is a free, non-commercial fan project, not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment. If you try it, I would love to hear where the balance feels wrong.
