Intro:
Welcome to the first issue of my coding journey! In this blog, I will be sharing my experiences, challenges, and triumphs as I start on a year-long challenge to learn how to code. Today, let me introduce myself and share the story behind my decision to start in the world of programming. The goal of the “Issue” blog series is to document my journey and share everything I learn with you, to help you do the same.
Meet 4tro:
Hello there, everyone! Hello, I'm Hello, a 17-year-old high school student with a strong interest in technology and a strong desire to learn how to code. I was attracted by the unlimited possibilities that coding offers from the time I learned the power of software and its potential to influence the world around us.
How did it start:
I first got introduced to coding in 6th grade in my computer science class using Scratch to learn the basics of programming by building small projects like an “about me” with multiple characters with dialog. From there, we started using platforms like w3school to learn the basics and structure of web pages and HTML. After that, we started using platforms like code.org, codepen.io, and codecademy to learn more advanced HTML. During that time one of the projects was to build another “about me” Now it was only HTML with images, Links, different size paragraphs, and titles.
Motivation:
After I got introduced to coding in 6th grade I kept taking the class in 7th grade and that was when I noticed that coding has always fascinated me, and I've admired the incredible things that developers can create with just a few lines of code. The potential to build websites, applications, and software that can impact people's lives is truly inspiring. Moreover, with the increasing digitization of the world, coding skills have become highly needed in all industries from retail stores to big tech companies like FAANG {Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google}.
Learning Goals:
In this year-long journey, my primary objective is to get as much knowledge as possible and build a strong foundation in programming languages. I aim to develop skills in web development, and app development, and explore various aspects of coding to grow my understanding. During that time I will be working on multiple projects that will increase difficulty. Along the way, I hope to build a portfolio of projects that showcase my progress and demonstrate my abilities.
How I'm planning to learn:
To start my journey I will be taking multiple online courses such as “CS50X”, and “CS50 Web Development” by Harvard University to relearn how computers work and master the basics of website structures. After that, I will be using platforms such as FreeCodeCamp, Codecademy, and code.org for more courses and practices. I’ll also be following a roadmap to make it easy for myself and I'll be also following alone within Visual Studio Code {VSCODE} and taking notes within the notion app and a notebook. Once I master web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I plan to continue learning more advanced topics until I become a full-stack developer. I'm excited to share this journey with you and provide insights into how to become a successful coder in a year.
Join Me:
If you want to follow my journey feel free to follow my Twitter @4tro_Dev where I'll be sharing weekly updates of my journey. Come and join me in my new adventure as I navigate the world of coding, solve the mysteries of programming languages and overcome all challenges. I believe that together, we can learn, grow, and inspire one another as we embark on our unique coding journeys.
Conclusion:
Let's learn, create, and conquer the coding world together, one step at a time. Stay tuned for the next issue, where I'll dive into setting goals and outlining a roadmap for the upcoming 365 days of coding. Together, we can make this journey unforgettable and empower ourselves with the superpower of coding!
