We Built HUNT: An AI-Powered Job Search Agent That Does More Than Find Jobs

By AgenticGenie — Building AI-powered products that solve real-world problems.
Finding a job has become a job in itself.
Search across platforms. Compare opportunities. Tailor your resume. Write cover letters. Fill out application forms. Track submissions. Follow up. Prepare for interviews.
Repeat the process for every opportunity.
For many job seekers, the hardest part isn't simply finding a job. It's managing the endless administrative work between discovering a role and getting ready for an interview.
At AgenticGenie, we believe AI should do more than answer questions or generate text. It should help people complete meaningful tasks.
That's why we're building HUNT.
HUNT is an AI-powered job-search and application agent designed to help candidates discover relevant opportunities, prepare tailored applications, automate repetitive tasks, and manage their job search in one connected workflow.
Our tagline is simple:
Job hunting, minus the forms.
The problem: Job searching is fragmented
Most job seekers work across multiple platforms and tools.
They might discover a role on a job board, research the company elsewhere, update their resume in a document editor, prepare a cover letter with an AI assistant, apply through an employer's careers portal, and record the application in a spreadsheet.
Every step introduces friction.
- Repetitive data entry: The same professional information gets entered repeatedly.
- Generic applications: Tailoring resumes and cover letters takes time.
- Fragmented workflows: Job discovery, applications, networking, and interview preparation live in different places.
- Poor visibility: Keeping track of applications and their status becomes difficult.
- Limited time: The administrative workload competes with skill development, networking, and interview preparation.
Adding another job board doesn't solve this problem.
We wanted to explore a different approach: what if an AI agent could help manage the work that happens after a candidate decides to look for a job?
Introducing HUNT
HUNT is designed to help job seekers move from discovering opportunities to taking action on them.
Rather than treating job searching as a collection of disconnected tasks, HUNT brings several parts of the journey into one experience.
1. Discover relevant opportunities
Searching for jobs shouldn't mean endlessly refreshing job boards.
HUNT helps users discover opportunities across supported job sources based on their preferences and career goals.
The objective isn't to overwhelm candidates with more listings. It's to make finding relevant opportunities more manageable.
2. Match jobs to your profile
Not every opening deserves an application.
HUNT helps users assess how opportunities align with their profile, experience, and preferences, making it easier to prioritize relevant roles.
The goal is to help candidates make more informed decisions about where to invest their time.
3. Prepare tailored applications
A resume that works for one role might not communicate the right experience for another.
HUNT helps prepare job-specific resumes and cover letters, reducing the repetitive effort involved in customizing applications.
The candidate's actual experience remains the foundation. The objective is to present relevant qualifications more effectively, not invent credentials.
4. Automate repetitive application tasks
Application portals often require candidates to repeatedly enter information they have already provided.
HUNT can automate supported parts of the application process, reducing manual work when users enable that functionality.
Automation should be useful, not reckless.
When a workflow encounters something that requires user input, such as an OTP, CAPTCHA, unanswered question, or personal decision, HUNT can hand control back to the candidate.
The idea is straightforward: automate what can be automated and involve the person when their input matters.
5. Track the job search
A job search involves more than submitting applications.
Candidates need to understand what they've found, which opportunities they've pursued, and what still requires attention.
HUNT brings application tracking into the workflow to help users stay organized and maintain visibility into their progress.
6. Prepare for what comes next
Getting an application submitted is not the end goal.
Networking, company research, and interview preparation can all influence how effectively a candidate pursues an opportunity.
HUNT also supports networking workflows and interview practice, helping users move beyond application submission toward preparing for the next stage.
Why we think AI agents matter here
AI assistants are useful for individual tasks.
You can ask one to rewrite a resume, draft a cover letter, or prepare interview questions. But the user still has to connect those outputs, move between tools, and execute the workflow.
An agent-oriented approach aims to reduce that coordination overhead.
For HUNT, this means connecting the stages of a job search so that the work done in one stage can support the next.
Job preferences inform discovery. A candidate's profile informs matching. A selected role informs application preparation. Application activity feeds into tracking. The overall job-search context can then help guide networking and interview preparation.
The value isn't simply using AI at every step.
It's making the steps work together.
Automation with the user in control
Automating job applications raises an important question: how much control should the software have?
We don't think the answer should be to blindly submit as many applications as possible.
Candidates need to know what the system is doing, review important decisions, and intervene when a situation requires their judgment.
That's why human involvement is an important part of HUNT's approach.
The system can handle repetitive work while handing control back when an application requires user input. Users should remain responsible for the accuracy of their information and the opportunities they choose to pursue.
We believe trustworthy automation is more valuable than automation that simply maximizes activity.
Building HUNT at AgenticGenie
At AgenticGenie, our focus is on applying AI and automation to workflows where people spend significant time on repetitive tasks.
HUNT is one expression of that approach.
Building a useful AI product involves more than integrating a model into an interface. The experience also needs to account for workflow reliability, changing application requirements, user preferences, exceptions, and visibility into what has happened.
Job applications are particularly challenging because employer websites differ, forms change, and some steps require human judgment.
Our goal is to keep improving the connection between discovery, matching, preparation, application, and follow-through while making the experience practical for real job seekers.
We see HUNT as an evolving product, and feedback from users is an important part of that process.
What's next?
We want HUNT to help people spend less time managing their job search and more time pursuing the opportunities that matter.
That means continuing to improve the experience around:
- Relevant job discovery and matching.
- More useful, tailored application preparation.
- Reliable automation across supported workflows.
- Clear application tracking and user control.
- Networking and interview preparation.
Our long-term vision is to make the job search feel less like a collection of administrative tasks and more like one coordinated process.
