I Shipped 5 AI Micro-Apps on iOS in 30 Days: The Good, the Bad, and the Stack That Made It Possible

Last month, I decided to test a hypothesis: Can a solo builder build, polish, and submit 5 distinct native iOS apps to the App Store in 30 days without burning out or compromising on quality?

Here is the unvarnished truth about the architecture, the bottlenecks, and the system that made it work.

1. The Trap of the "All-in-One Super App"

Most solo founders fail because they spend 9 months building a monolithic platform that tries to do everything. Instead, I unbundled my workflow into specialized, single-purpose apps:

  • A personal AI memory companion (Lumo)
  • A resume & career narrative polisher (CareerLoom)
  • An automated flashcard generator for spaced repetition (DeckShift)
  • A creator toolkit for rapid visual assets (CreatorKit)
  • A cash-flow safety calculator for solopreneurs (SafeToSpend)

2. The Core Stack

  • Client: React Native with Expo SDK & TypeScript for fast iterations and cross-device preview.
  • Native Bridges: Swift native modules for audio streaming, haptics, and background sync.
  • Monetization & Analytics: RevenueCat for IAP subscriptions + Postiz for automated content distribution.
  • AI Core: Hybrid routing (local embeddings on-device + high-reasoning LLMs for synthesis).

3. The Secret Weapon: Eating My Own Dogfood

The biggest breakthrough came while building Lumo (Memory Copilot).
During intense multi-repo development, I used Lumo every day to record architecture decisions, App Store review rejection notes, and bug root causes. Whenever Apple flagged a metadata discrepancy or an entitlement issue, I whispered a 15-second voice note into Lumo.

Three weeks later, when another app faced a similar review bottleneck, I simply asked Lumo:

"What was the exact entitlement adjustment that fixed our background audio submission?"

Lumo answered in 2 seconds with the exact plist key. That alone saved me hours of duplicate debugging.

Key Takeaway for Builders

Don't rely on your brain to hold the weight of multi-project development. Offload your working state to an external memory system.
