Bitwarden is free and open source, and its free plan is strong. It gives unlimited devices, unlimited passwords and passkeys at no cost. For a password manager alone, Bitwarden is hard to beat, and Off Grid AI does not try to.

Off Grid AI Desktop (OGAD) Pro is a different kind of purchase. It is one app, paid once, that keeps your vault on your own disk with no server copy, and also gives you memory, meetings without a bot and actions you approve. Vault holds passwords, API keys, notes and files, encrypted and unlocked only by you.

What one app covers

This is where the two differ. Bitwarden is a password manager. Off Grid AI Pro is a vault plus the rest of your work tools.

What it costs over three years

At Bitwarden's listed yearly prices:

1 year 3 years
Bitwarden Free $0 $0
Bitwarden Premium $19.80 $59.40
Bitwarden Families $47.88 $143.64
Off Grid AI Pro, lifetime $79.99 $79.99

For passwords alone, Bitwarden costs less, and its Free plan costs nothing. Off Grid AI Pro is worth it only if you also want memory, meetings, actions and the rest of Pro in the same app.

How Vault works

  1. Open Vault in OGAD and set a master password.
  2. Save the 24-word recovery phrase somewhere safe. With the vault file and its recovery data, it lets you back in if you forget the password.
  3. Add logins, payment cards, API keys, secure notes and files. Everything is encrypted on your disk.
  4. Lock it when you finish. Only you can unlock it.
  5. To fill logins in Chrome, request the browser extension and pair it with the desktop app.

Run the Security check to find weak and reused passwords.

Your vault works with your AI agent

Off Grid Vault fills logins in your own browser, matched to the website's domain. Off Grid's Web Use runs agent tasks in that same signed-in browser. So an agent task can sign in without you pasting a password into a chat, and the password never goes to a model. Web Use and Computer Use are Pro features.

What else the same key covers

  • Memory. Screens, meetings, mail and documents become one local memory you can search and ask.
  • Meetings without a bot. Calls recorded, transcribed and summarised on your computer.
  • Actions you approve. Replies and issues through Gmail, Linear, Jira and Notion.
  • God, Reflect and Clipboard. A morning brief, time by project and person, and a searchable clipboard.
  • Sync. Your phone and computer in sync, encrypted, device to device.

One key covers up to 5 devices.

When Bitwarden is the better pick

For a password manager alone, Bitwarden is the better pick for most people. It is free, with unlimited devices and passwords. It is open source. Its download page lists apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Apple and Android devices, a web vault, a command line and extensions for 9 browsers. Autofill works everywhere you use it, including your phone. It manages passkeys. Families shares vault items between 6 people. Premium and Families include self-host options, so you can run the server yourself. Off Grid AI Vault matches none of that reach.

If you want a free password manager on every device, or you want to self-host, use Bitwarden. If you want one paid-once app that keeps your vault on your own disk and also runs your memory, meetings and approved actions, use Off Grid AI Pro.

Get started

  1. Download OGAD for Mac (Apple silicon), Windows or Linux.
  2. Get Pro and enter your key.
  3. Open Vault, set a master password and save your recovery phrase.
  4. Add your first logins and API keys.

FAQ

Is Bitwarden free?
Yes. Bitwarden's Free plan gives unlimited devices and unlimited passwords, passkey management and sharing with one other user. On 30 October 2026, Premium is $19.80 a year and Families is $47.88 a year for up to 6 users.

Is Off Grid AI cheaper than Bitwarden?
No. For a password manager alone, Bitwarden Free costs nothing and Bitwarden Premium costs less than Off Grid AI Pro. Off Grid AI Pro costs more because it is a whole app, not only a vault.

Where does Bitwarden store my vault?
In the Bitwarden cloud, with data storage in a United States or European Union region. Bitwarden also offers self-host options, so you can run the server yourself.

Do I need an account for Off Grid AI Vault?
No. Vault lives in Off Grid AI Desktop on your computer. You unlock it with a master password, and you can recover it with a 24-word recovery phrase.

Can Off Grid AI fill passwords in my browser?
Yes, in Chrome, through the Off Grid AI browser extension, which is available by request. The desktop app must be running, paired and unlocked. Bitwarden's autofill works in many more browsers and on phones.

Get Off Grid AI Pro and keep your secrets on your own computer.
