When you build e-commerce software for the Arab world, you quickly realize
that Shopify wasn't made for you.
Not because it's bad — it's great. But it assumes:
- Your customers pay with Stripe or credit cards by default
- Your product descriptions are always in English first
- Your delivery partners have working APIs
- RTL is a plugin, not a requirement
- Meta ads optimize themselves without server-side tracking
We ran into every one of these walls. So we built ShawaTech
(shawatech.net) — an entire e-commerce ecosystem designed from the ground
up for the Arab market.
Any Gateway. Any Carrier. You Choose.
ShawaTech doesn't bundle you into a fixed payment setup. You pick which
gateways and delivery partners to activate — per selling scope:
Local (Arab Countries)
Available gateways to pick from: Cash on Delivery, Mada, Fawry, Bank/Wallet Transfer
Available carriers: DropExpress (same day), local couriers (1–2 days)
Regional (MENA)
Available gateways to pick from: Tabby (BNPL), Tamara (BNPL), Benefit, STC Pay
Available carriers: Aramex (2–3 days), SMSA Express (3–5 days)
Worldwide
Available gateways to pick from: Stripe, PayPal, Visa, Mastercard
Available carriers: DHL (3–5 days), FedEx (2–4 days)
Activate only what your market needs. No unused integrations cluttering
your checkout. No per-gateway fees.
The Meta Integration Layer
This is where most Arab merchants get hurt: ad spend that leaks because
pixel data is incomplete.
ShawaTech ships as a Meta Business Partner with three native integrations:
1. Meta Conversions API (CAPI)
Server-side event tracking that feeds Meta's algorithm directly — bypassing
browser blockers and iOS privacy restrictions. Your ads learn faster, target
better, and cost less. Every key event (view, add to cart, purchase) is
fired from the server, not just the browser.
2. Instagram to Store (AI-Powered Import)
Connect your Instagram account and import any post — the AI analyzes the
image, extracts product details, and generates a ready-to-sell product
listing automatically. One click, zero effort. Your existing Instagram
content becomes your product catalog.
3. Facebook Pixel
Client-side pixel fires on every key event, building audiences and powering
retargeting campaigns automatically. Paired with CAPI for full-funnel
coverage (server + client).
Stack them together and Meta's algorithm gets the cleanest possible signal
— which is the difference between ads that scale and ads that burn budget.
The AI Layer
The part that surprised us most: how much store owners in our market
need AI, but how little of it exists in Arabic.
We shipped two AI features on the Grow ($699/yr) and Scale ($1,099/yr) plans:
1. AI Dashboard Assistant
15 one-tap analysis buttons that read the store's real data and return
actionable reports — with a voice readout in Arabic or English
(via MiniMax TTS).
Morning briefings, revenue gap analysis, restock advice, customer
retention — all from live store data, not generic templates. Every report
ends with specific steps to take.
2. AI Product Import
Upload up to 50 product images. The AI returns:
- Product name (EN + AR)
- Description (EN + AR)
- Category assignment
- SEO meta title + description (both languages)
- Brand detection from packaging
- Confidence score per product
What used to take a small team days now takes minutes.
Why We Open the Ecosystem
ShawaTech isn't a walled garden. We integrate with third-party delivery
providers, POS systems, accounting tools, and B2B platforms on request —
no per-integration upcharge.

The Arab e-commerce market is fragmented. Building walls makes it worse.
Building bridges makes everyone stronger.
What We Learned
Localization isn't translation. It's payment logic, delivery
assumptions, currency formatting, ad tracking architecture, and trust
signals that your audience actually recognizes.
If you're building for a non-Western market: don't bolt localization
onto a Western foundation. Start local, then expand.
ShawaTech is live at shawatech.net.
If you're building in the Arab e-commerce space, we'd love to talk.
