Breaking news straight from the robotics world.
Rohit Prasad, the man who spent 12 years building and scaling Alexa inside Amazon, is now officially the CEO of Boston Dynamics.
Why does this matter so much?
Alexa's whole job was understanding you and responding in milliseconds. That is pure real-time intelligence at massive scale, something Prasad lived and breathed for over a decade.
Now picture that same brain, but instead of just talking back, it is controlling a machine that walks, jumps, and reacts to a physical world in real time.
Boston Dynamics already nailed the hard part of robotics: the body. Backflipping robots, warehouse bots climbing stairs, dogs navigating chaos.
But the next battle is not about balance anymore. It is about cognition. Making these machines actually understand context, not just execute pre-programmed moves.
That is exactly the gap Prasad is brought in to close. Less mechanical engineering, more AI reasoning at the core.
The message to the entire robotics industry is loud and clear: a strong body without a sharp brain is just expensive hardware.
So next time someone jokes 'Alexa, do a backflip,' it might not be a joke much longer.
