Wait, Tailwind just got bought by Shopify?

I had to read this twice this morning.

Quick context if you're not a developer: Tailwind is basically the tool millions of people use to make websites look good, fast. Over 110 million downloads a week. ChatGPT, X, Reddit, Cloudflare all use it.

And the guy who built it, 9 years ago, just handed it over to Shopify.

Here's the part I love. He didn't sell because he was struggling. He sold because he wanted Tailwind to grow up inside a real product, facing real problems, instead of staying a side project forever.

Shopify was actually one of the first big companies to bet on Tailwind years ago. So this isn't some random acquisition. It's more like a partner finally making it official.

As a developer, my honest reaction: relief. Tools like this get abandoned or turn messy after they blow up. This feels like the opposite. More stability, more resources, same tool millions of us already depend on every single day.

Sometimes the biggest tech news isn't a flashy AI model. It's just... a well loved tool finally getting a proper home.

Anyone else building with Tailwind daily? Curious how you feel about this one.
