Build Log: This Week's AI Tool Discoveries Were Mostly Trading Apps and Old Favorites

Every week I run our discovery engine across Product Hunt and Futurepedia to find new AI and SaaS tools worth indexing on StackIndex AI. This week's results were... let me be honest with you: a bit of a mixed bag.

Here's what came back, and what I actually think about it.

The Futurepedia Caveat (Worth Repeating)

Before I dig in: Futurepedia surfaces tools when their listing gets edited, not just when something genuinely launches. So when you see DALL·E 3 or Jasper Art showing up in a "new discoveries" batch, it doesn't mean they launched this week. Someone updated a description field, and the listing bubbled up. This is a real limitation of using Futurepedia as a freshness signal, and I want to be upfront about it rather than pretend everything here is a hot new release.

We're working on better signals for this. For now, take the Futurepedia results with that grain of salt.

Half the Batch Was AI Trading Tools

Seven out of fifteen results this week were in the trading/finance space:

  • DealSize.ai – AI for technical analysis and trade review
  • Uptrends.ai – Stock trend tracking with real-time data
  • TradingLab – Analytics, backtesting, collaborative features
  • Edge Hound – Market trend identification and trade ideas
  • Trade Ideas – AI signals and real-time scanning (this one's been around for years)
  • Danelfin – Stock analytics and investment strategy
  • Trendspider – AI-powered charting and pattern recognition

And then there's Safebet (sports betting predictions) and Crypto Co Pilot (crypto trading insights), which rounds out the finance-adjacent cluster.

That's nine out of fifteen results touching money and markets in some way. Make of that what you will. Part of it is probably Futurepedia's category weighting right now. Part of it might be genuine activity — trading tools are a crowded space and new entrants keep showing up. I don't have strong opinions on most of these individually because their descriptions are nearly identical: "AI-driven insights," "real-time signals," "revolutionize trading." Without deeper testing I can't tell you which ones are actually worth your time.

Trade Ideas and Trendspider are the established names here — both have been around long enough to have real user bases. The others I'd want to dig into more before recommending.

The Non-Trading Stuff

Gumloop is the one that caught my attention as potentially genuinely useful for solo founders. It's a drag-and-drop workflow automation tool with AI baked in. The pitch is similar to Zapier or Make, but with a heavier AI emphasis. I've seen it mentioned positively in a few indie hacker communities. Worth a look if you're building automations without wanting to write much code.

PromptBase and AI Prompt Library both surfaced this week. PromptBase is a marketplace for buying and selling prompts — it's been around since 2022 and is well-established. AI Prompt Library claims 30,000+ prompts. The prompt marketplace category has gotten pretty crowded and I'm genuinely unsure how much value these add now that models have gotten better at interpreting plain instructions. But if you're looking for structured prompts for specific workflows, they might save time.

Hostinger AI Website Builder showed up, which is Hostinger's AI-assisted site builder. This is an existing product from an existing hosting company. Not a new tool — almost certainly a listing edit triggering the Futurepedia signal.

DALL·E 3 and Jasper Art — same story. These are not new.

What This Tells Me About the Discovery Problem

Weeks like this are a good reminder of why we're building StackIndex in the first place. The raw feed from aggregators is noisy. Famous tools resurface constantly. Categories cluster in weird ways depending on what's getting edited or upvoted at a given moment. The actual signal — a genuinely new tool that a solo founder might want to know about — can get buried.

Gumloop is probably the most actionable find from this batch if workflow automation is on your radar. Everything else either needs more digging or is something you've already heard of.
