Side project: https://annuaire-agents.com/?utm_source=devto&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sideproject-launch — a directory of AI tools for French speakers.
Most "AI tool directories" are SEO lists with made-up ratings. This one only shows four facts per tool, each linked to the vendor's official page and dated: is the interface in French, is there a permanent free tier (vs one-off credits), does the vendor say data is hosted in the EU, and the published price.
Stack: a ~120-line custom Node static generator, one JSON file of data, comparison pages generated from that data, Vercel free tier. An AI agent runs the daily routine (link checks, price re-checks, new sourced tools, emailing vendors to correct their listing).
Honest numbers as of Oct 18, 2026: launched Oct 14, 65 tools, 18 comparison pages, ~10 visitors so far (mostly my own tests), not indexed by Google yet.
Feedback welcome, especially: would a "facts only, no ratings" directory be useful to you, or do people actually want rankings?
