I Spent Months Building the Software. Nobody Warned Me About What Comes After.

I thought the hardest part of building a product would be the code.

I was wrong. 😂

You spend months debugging, fixing failing tests, writing documentation, dealing with deployment issues, and convincing yourself that one more feature is necessary.

Then you finally ship.

And suddenly, you're expected to become a marketer, salesperson, content creator, and community manager.

Wait. I thought I signed up to write code? 😭

I've been experiencing this while building Agata Proxima, an open-source-backed PostgreSQL security platform.

The engineering challenges were difficult, but at least I knew what to do next.

Getting developers to discover something you've built? Completely different problem.

I'm learning that shipping software and getting people to care about it are two separate skills.

Developers who've launched their own products:

How did you get people to actually try what you built?

And please don't just say "post on social media." I'm already doing that. 😂

The funny part is that I can spend hours debugging Rust and PostgreSQL, but figuring out how to get someone to try the finished product has me completely confused. 😭😂

For anyone who's been through this, what actually worked for you?

I'm genuinely interested in the answers.
