It's tempting to sample everything.

a taste of ten things
and mastery of none.
It feels like progress.

But a collection of shallow tastes
doesn't add up
to a skill.
Depth is different.
When you take one thing
all the way down —
past the tutorial,
past the comfortable middle,
into the parts that are hard
and specific and real —
something changes.
You stop being someone
who has heard of it.
You become someone
who understands it.
And here's the quiet gift:
depth in one thing
teaches you how depth feels.
You learn how to learn deeply,
and that transfers
to everything after.
The person who went deep once
picks up the next thing faster,
because they know
what real understanding costs
and they're willing to pay it.
Go wide later.
It's easier
once you've been deep at least once.
Pick one thing.
Go all the way down.
