Take the Job That Scares You a Little

The role you're fully ready for
won't grow you much.

You already have what it needs.
You'll do it well,
and you'll leave it
roughly the same person
you walked in as.

The role that scares you a little
is the one that changes you.

Not the one that terrifies you —
that's a setup to drown.
The one that makes you think
"I could probably do this,
but I'm not totally sure."

That gap,
between what you know
and what the role demands,
is exactly where growth happens.
You'll stretch to close it.
And in closing it,
you become someone larger.

Most people wait
until they feel ready
to reach for the bigger thing.

But you rarely feel ready
before you take it.
You feel ready
because you took it
and survived.

So when a chance shows up
that scares you a little,
lean toward it.

Comfortable is where growth
goes to sleep.
