The Problem
People living with cognitive decline — including Alzheimer's and
other forms of dementia — gradually lose the ability to use the
digital tools they've relied on for decades. Email, banking,
communication apps, even simple interfaces become overwhelming.
The result: losing access to systems that were central to their
daily lives, which further damages their independence and quality
of life.
The Idea
An adaptive software layer that sits on top of the applications
a person already uses. Using AI, the layer would progressively
simplify how those apps look and behave — based on the user's
current cognitive state, preferences, and needs.
Not a new app to learn. Not a stripped-down "senior mode."
An intelligent mediation layer that evolves with the person.
Why This Is Technically Interesting
- Adaptive UI driven by behavioral signals (not just static profiles)
- Balancing simplification with preserving user autonomy
- Privacy-first design — health data is extremely sensitive
- Integration challenges across different existing apps
Honest Disclaimer
I'm not a developer, and I'm not a neurologist or cognitive
researcher. I'm an idea person. I came up with this concept,
I believe in its social value, and I'm looking for people who
want to build it with me — whether as an open-source project,
a research initiative, or a startup exploration.
I have no funding, so this is a volunteer / open-source effort.
