TL;DR: Facebook need to do better, and they're sorry.
Unfortunately, we've just had an incredibly smart person, who has created and maintained the largest social media/tech giants of the last decade, testify in front of 44 people who literally have no idea what he or Facebook does.
Haven't had time to tune in, would love any TLDRs folks might have.
Two more hours to go. I will try to write a sum-it-up post on thanpa.com tomorrow if I have time! Will surely ping you if I manage to write it!
@ben not a TLDR but there's interesting stuff: The 13 Strangest Moments From the Zuckerberg Hearing
TechCrunch's is also covering the whole ordeal left and right (and they are very critical and rightly so):
Zuckerberg denies knowledge of Facebook shadow profiles in which Zuckerberg dodges the question about FB collecting data on users that don't have an account
Zuckerberg won’t give a straight answer on data downloads in which Zuckerberg again dodges a question related to data collecting of users outside FB
This is very bad, I hope they get regulated, fines are useless for a company this size.
My mom watched it all day and will report to me later tonight. Very curious about what transpired. She told me that she couldn't tear herself away from the tv lol.
