What if computers could handle the hard stuff for us, instead of expecting us to constantly adapt to them?
That's the question behind Barkly Labs, an independent, human-centered technology initiative built around one core idea:
Can we make computers front-load the hard stuff for humans?
We're exploring ways to make technology more accessible, understandable, and humaneโespecially for people navigating disabilities, neurodivergence, limited energy, and the everyday challenges that software often overlooks.
๐ ๏ธ What we're building
๐ Barkly Docs โ Making complex software projects easier for humans to understand by turning codebases into structured, navigable documentation.
๐ค CYN-X โ A locally run AI assistant we're actively developing, testing, and improving. It's still a work in progress, and we're working through regressions as we go.
๐ก Open Standards & Human-Centered Tools โ Exploring ways to make technology more interoperable, accessible, and useful to the people who depend on it.
๐ฑ Why we're doing this
We believe people shouldn't have to exhaust themselves just to use the tools that are supposed to help them. Technology should account for human limits, not pretend those limits don't exist.
Barkly Labs is being built in the open, one project, experiment, bug fix, and lesson at a time. This development feed will share what we're actually working onโincluding progress, challenges, and the things we're still figuring out.
No pretending everything is finished. No hype for the sake of hype. Just honest development toward a more humane technological future.
Welcome to Barkly Labs. ๐พ
Technology should adapt to human limits. Humans shouldn't have to destroy themselves trying to meet the limits of technology.
