Hi, welcome to the ABEND dump!
This is a series of posts where I share the technical content I’ve been consuming lately.
If you want to know the origin of the name, I've got you covered.
A 10x Faster TypeScript
And Typescript is being ported from itself to Go:
The performance improvements look fantastic!
Still, people complain about it in the GitHub issue: Why Go?
Anders Hejlsberg is the project's lead software architect. He also authored C# and the Object Pascal dialect used in Delphi. This guy is a living legend! Somehow, people are questioning him and the core development team for choosing Go rather than C# -- besides, he mentions the team trying multiple languages before choosing Go. Baffling!
Just chill, guys, and enjoy your faster TS — you’re getting more free CPU cycles. 😆
Getting Started with Compilers
This article has excellent sources for learning compilers’ stuff.
Self-Education in PL
And… I found this cool podcast hosted by Pedro Abreu about all things programming language.
Il tuo progetto open source [parte terza]: Jim Tcl
@antirez, the creator of Redis, doesn’t stop impressing me.
He’s doing some videos in Italian, which I’m following, like the one I’m sharing below. It has an informal conversational tone and little to no editing. At the same time, I’m enjoying practicing my Italian skills with tech-related content I like, but I wish it were in English to reach a wider audience. However, as a non-native English speaker, I understand the appeal of creating content in his native language.
Anyway, he talks about open-source projects and how they influenced his career, and he makes lots of insightful remarks. He also wrote an alternative implementation of the Tcl programming language called Jim, focusing on a small footprint. Super cool!
