Meet Miriam: Turning Communication and Connection into a Business Superpower

From family business administrator to freelance entrepreneur, Miriam Rachel Ber has carved a path built on resilience, creativity, and authentic communication. As the founder of Gemini Rising Ltd, she helps entrepreneurs, coaches, and small business owners grow through strategic social media management, content writing, and podcast outreach.

With a background in business administration and a passion for astrology and tarot, Miriam combines intuition with marketing strategy to help brands find their voice and use it effectively. In this interview, she shares her journey, insights, and lessons from over a decade in business.

Q. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background before starting this business?

I hold a diploma in Business Administration from Seneca College in Toronto, Canada. Early in my career, I worked in my family’s business, managing office administration and operations. While I learned a lot about running a business, I also began to crave independence and creative freedom.

The internal politics of a family business made it hard to grow in the direction I wanted, so I decided to take the skills I’d developed, which were organization, communication, and digital marketing, and also forge my own path. That decision became the foundation for everything I’ve built since.

Q. What inspired you to start your company?

I wanted to create something that truly reflected my voice and values. Leaving the family business wasn’t just about escaping drama; it was about finding purpose and fulfillment.

I wanted to be my own boss, build authentic connections with clients, and help other businesses grow through genuine communication. That independence and desire to make a difference in others’ lives motivated me to start my own venture

Q. How did your startup or business come to life?

It started with a clear vision: to offer SEO, writing, and social media management services that truly help businesses connect with their audiences. I put together a simple plan, registered my business, and within weeks landed my first major client through the old Warrior Forum, a reminder that showing up and networking pays off.

That early success proved there was a real need for the kind of authentic, human-centered marketing I wanted to provide.

Q. What is the meaning behind its name?

I’m also an astrologer and tarot reader, so the name Gemini Rising Ltd. felt natural. Gemini represents communication, curiosity, and connection, which perfectly align with my business’s core values.

The term “rising” stands for growth and evolution in regards to the business name, (though it is different in astrology), both for me and my clients. It’s more than just a name; it reflects my belief that genuine communication can transform businesses.

Q. What makes your product or service unique?

Authenticity is at the heart of everything I do. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter marketing or empty engagement tactics. Instead, I focus on helping clients build meaningful, long-term visibility through customized social media strategy, content writing, and podcast outreach.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend business strategy with intuition, combining analytical tools with emotional intelligence to ensure every campaign feels real and relatable. I also offer podcast guest outreach services, helping entrepreneurs land interviews that amplify their voices and credibility across multiple platforms.

Q. Any exciting new features or projects in the pipeline?

Yes! I recently launched my Substack, The Podcast Guest Hotlist, which offers free podcasting tips, visibility strategies, and a paid premium list of curated podcast opportunities.

It’s designed to help entrepreneurs and creators find shows that align perfectly with their brand story and expertise. I’ll also be launching my own podcast soon, focused on communication, creativity, and authenticity in the modern business landscape.

Q. What marketing strategies worked best for you?

Consistency and connection have been key. I focus heavily on relationship marketing, which is building genuine relationships through social media, networking, and collaborations. Sharing authentic stories, showing behind-the-scenes content, and using platforms like Substack and LinkedIn to educate and inspire have been incredibly effective.

I also rely on SEO, podcast features, and word-of-mouth referrals, which have helped me build steady, long-term growth without relying solely on paid ads.

Q. How do you approach partnerships or collaborations?

I believe partnerships should feel natural and aligned. Whether it’s attending networking events (in person or virtual), joining business communities, or having virtual coffee chats, I always approach collaborations with curiosity and mutual benefit in mind.

The best partnerships often grow out of real conversations and shared goals rather than formal pitches.

Q. Do you work remotely, hybrid, or in person?

I work 100% remotely, which allows me to connect with clients globally while maintaining flexibility and focus. Remote work has opened the door to more meaningful and diverse collaborations than I could have ever imagined in a traditional office.

Q. What advice would you give to someone starting their own business today?

Expect ups and downs, as it is best to embrace them. Entrepreneurship isn’t a straight line; there will be feast and famine cycles, setbacks, and rejections. But those challenges shape your resilience.

The key is persistence, adaptability, and the willingness to keep learning. Don’t compare your progress to others, just stay focused on building something you’re proud of.

Q. How do you handle pressure, stress, or burnout?

Boundaries are essential. I manage my workload strategically by setting realistic timelines and expectations with clients. I also believe in working smart, not just hard, using automation tools, templates, and outsourcing when needed.

Taking breaks, doing creative work like tarot and writing, and maintaining self-care practices all help me stay grounded and avoid burnout.

Q. What are your goals for the next year?

My biggest goals are to launch my podcast and expand my podcast guest outreach service. I want to help even more entrepreneurs and thought leaders amplify their voices through meaningful podcast appearances and authentic brand storytelling.

Q. What motivates you to keep going during hard times?

I remind myself that hard times never last forever. Every challenge carries a lesson and an opportunity for growth. What keeps me going is the belief that you only truly fail when you stop trying, and I’m not stopping anytime soon.
