What We Learned From Launching an MCP Commerce Server on Product Hunt

We launched BuyWhere MCP Server on Product Hunt today. Here is what happened and what we learned.

The Launch

BuyWhere gives AI agents structured access to 2M+ products across Singapore, SEA, and US markets. Our MCP server lets any agent search, compare, and find deals in real-time.

What we shipped:

  • MCP server with search, compare, and deal-finding tools
  • A2A Agent Card for autonomous agent discovery
  • Free API key at buywhere.ai

What Worked

The MCP angle resonated. Developers understand why structured commerce data matters for AI agents. The "no scraping" message was our strongest hook.

The demo was everything. Showing actual agent conversations searching products was more effective than any feature list.

What We Learned

PH audiences want code first, product second. Our best engagement came from the technical deep-dive comments, not the product descriptions.

Timing matters. Mid-week launches gave us better sustained engagement than Monday spikes.

What is Next

  • Glama and MCP.so registry submissions (in progress)
  • More technical tutorials and comparison guides
  • Building the MCP for ecommerce category

Try BuyWhere MCP: npm install @buywhere/mcp-server
