Day 85: When Motivation Posts Miss the Point

Why do all motivation posts revolve around the gym? Like, I get it, physical fitness matters, but can we acknowledge that sitting down and actually writing backend code for 20 minutes straight without getting distracted is also pretty damn hard?

No gym again today, but I'm focusing on different stats. Sometimes you gotta pick your battles.

The Hackathon Prep

Spent time preparing how I'll present the PPT. Being team leader means I actually have to sound like I know what I'm talking about. Fun times.

Then the big moment, I actually STARTED the backend. Even if it was just 20 minutes, that's 20 minutes more than yesterday. Small moves, but moves nonetheless.

The Senior's Signal

Here's where it gets interesting. A senior randomly sent me a post about some startup pitch opportunity. I haven't told anyone what I'm working on, but he somehow has an idea that I'm building something.

Two thoughts hit me:

  1. This senior is genuinely goated
  2. Does he actually believe in me? If so, that's some pressure I wasn't ready for

Now I feel like I actually have to deliver something worth talking about.

Priority Sorting Era

Starting tomorrow, I'm switching up the approach. Instead of just listing what I need to do, I'm doing priority sorting. Tackle the most important thing first, then maybe I can actually sleep on time for once.

The Parents Call Reality Check

Parents called and told me I don't have to work too much, that it's okay to be mid. They genuinely care and think I'm already working hard enough. But here's the thing I never told them anything, I live far away. I wonder if what I am trying will end up mid or change into something

The irony hit me hard. To them (and honestly, 99% of people), I probably look like the lazy guy who doesn't achieve much. They're trying to protect me from burnout when I'm actually trying to break out of being average.

Made me want to hang up for a second, but I know they mean well. They just don't see the whole picture yet. I can't stay in this "lazy guy" perception forever though. Something's gotta shift.

Mutiny's Motivation Paradox Promo

"We're Officially Replacing All Gym Memberships With Startup Connections"

Today's deal: Trade your unused gym membership for:

  • Direct access to founders who also skip leg day for code day
  • Mentors who understand that mental reps > physical reps
  • A community where "I coded for 20 minutes" gets the same respect as "I ran 5 miles"

Because honestly, both require discipline, but only one might change your life trajectory. Mutiny connects the builders who know that sometimes the hardest workout is opening your IDE and actually writing that function you've been avoiding.

Your move: mutiny-land.vercel.app

Tomorrow's gonna be productive. I can feel it.
